Carbontech Development Initiative

Overview:
The Carbontech Development Initiative aims to strengthen New York State as a global hub of carbon capture and storage development by facilitating creation, validation, and launch of cutting-edge solutions. CDI will award research and commercialization grants in four programs.
The application period for CDI's second solicitation is CLOSED.
Areas of Interest:
The technologies CDI funds will be organized around three (3) Topic Areas (TAs) representing the carbontech areas of highest relevance to stimulating a nation-leading carbontech innovation and commercialization ecosystem in New York State including:
- Carbon Capture Technology
- Carbon-to-Building Materials
- Carbon-to-Chemicals/Fuels/Materials
Eligibility:
CDI has four programs, three Research Programs and one Commercialization Programs:
Research Programs:
- Propel Carbontech
- Carbontech Leap (Columbia University only)
- New Directions (Columbia University only)
Commercialization Programs:
- Bridge Carbontech
Program RFPs will be available October __, 2024 with specific eligibility criteria.
Funding & Project Length:
Propel Carbontech
- Expected Individual Award Amount: $50,000 - $150,000
- Project Duration: 12-18 Months
- Expected Number of Awards: 4 - 8
Carbontech Leap (Columbia University only)
- Expected Individual Award Amount: $250,000
- Project Duration: 36 Months
- Expected Number of Awards: 2
Bridge Carbontech
- Expected Individual Award Amount: $287,500 to $375,000
- Project Duration: 18-24 Months
- Expected Number of Awards: 5 - 6
- Bridge Carbontech will make awards to mid-stage (TRL 4-6) and later-stage (TRL 6-9) projects
